The Fayetteville SwampDogs are excited to announce the addition of RHP Tyler Brunnemann, a reliever for Hardin-Simmons University in Texas. The 6-1, 210-pound junior has recorded five strikeouts in just two innings of work through his team’s first three games of the year. He has not allowed a base-runner en route to a perfect two for two in save opportunities. He spent last summer’s campaign with the Rome Thunderbolts of the NYCBL where he went 1-1 with seven saves in 19 appearances. He struck out 27 batters in just 22.1 innings of work, and allowed only 19 runners. The Garden Ridge, TX native appeared in 42 games in his first two seasons as a Cowboy. He’s established a 9-2 record with 69 strikeouts in 71.1 innings pitched. “We look for Tyler to be an excellent addition to our bullpen,” said SwampDogs head coach Darrell Handelsman. “He should provide an immediate impact as we make our championship run this season.” The Fayetteville SwampDogs are a member of the Coastal Plain League, entering their 12th season in the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season, the Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The CPL gives college players a chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had more than 930 alums drafted and 46 alums make their major league debut thus far.
