FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.- With the SwampDogs trailing 8-4 heading into the bottom of the eighth, it appeared as though the New Bern River Rats were ready to snap their 12 game slide against the Dogs. In utterly amazing fashion, the SwampDogs (8-2) caught fire at the plate and scored nine runs on eights to blow out the River Rats (2-7) 13-8 and extend their winning streak to 13 games, in front of a packed house of 2,040 fans at J.P. Riddle Stadium.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.- How a team responds to an unfamiliar situatuion is vitally important. For the first time all season, the SwampDogs did not score first. Trailing 2-0 after an inning, the SwampDogs (6-2) put the clamps down and scored seven unanswered runs to blow out the Wilmington Sharks (2-3) 7-2 at Buck Hardee Field. It was the first meeting between the SwampDogs and Sharks with Darrell Handelsman and Lew Handelsman as the owners of both teams.
COLUMBIA, S.C.- With the scored tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the eigth inning, Parker Bangs threw a fastball that got all the way to the backstop, which allowed Tyler McBride to score the game winning run. Dylan Owen closed the door in the ninth to give the Blowfish (3-2) a 4-3 come from behind win over the SwampDogs (5-2) at Capital City Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.- For the third time this season, the SwampDogs eclipsed the 10 run plateau. The SwampDogs used a huge seventh inning to pull away from a Pesky Peninsula Pilot to win 10-5 at J.P. Riddle Stadium. The SwampDogs regain sole position of first place in the South as Florence beat Wilmington 5-2 tonight.
